Location

From this house you will enjoy an unobstructed view of the lower valley and its spectacular surrounding hillsides that divide the roads leading to Rome and Bolsena, famous for its beautiful lake.

Being on the west side of town, this is where people come to enjoy clean and colorful sunsets.

The Etruscan Caves

During the restoration of this house, over 2000 cubic feet of "historical dirt" were taken out of this area. What was there? Dirt and more. What I can tell you is that Orvieto in the past had a very strict law forbidding anyone from throwing anything out of the RUPE, the huge tufa bluff rock where Orvieto was built to protect itself from invasions. Following the Etruscan tradition, people in Orvieto were allowed to cut tufa rock deep in the underground, build houses and then fill up the excavated areas with anything that could not be thrown out...
